As an outreach to the poorest of the poor, Tshwane Christian School has instituted an all inclusive support programme for young children from the surrounding informal settlements. In these areas, the unemployment rate is up to 60%; HIV Aids and other communicable diseases are rampant. Many households experience abject poverty, being headed by a single mother, grandmother or older sibling. Crimes like substance and sexual abuse are rife.
To cut into this ongoing spiral of poverty, our school is offering education from the Early Learning Phase to school leaving Certificate on a financial support programme which includes the cost of tuition, transport, school uniforms, books, school feeding and extramural activities.
Families or individuals may become involved in this programme by financially "adopting" a child. Companies may prefer to make a "block" donation to cover the cost of more than one of these children. Donations are tax deductable and earn BEE points (South Africa only). Donation page
Donations of blankets, second hand clothes (for children and their parents), and dry groceries are also welcome.
