In many cases children in this age cohort lack the necessary informal education input of the home due to socio economic factors prevalent in their communities – single parent families (mother only); both parents involved in the struggle for economic survival; no regular income in the family
Our ELC serves to support families in filling this void through a school readiness program which also serves as an introduction to English as medium of instruction.
Non-fee paying children from the surrounding squatter camps are absorbed into this phase.
Facilities developed include activity rooms, ablutions; enclosed playground; sick bay; paddle pool and staff offices.
The facilities can accommodate 100 children but are mostly sparse and not conducive to a stimulating learning experience.
